Marchesi Antinori – Pian delle Vigne 2024 Rosso di Montalcino DOC – 100% Sangiovese Lot of 6 bottles of 0.75 L – Harvest 2024 Pian delle Vigne Rosso di Montalcino 2024 is born in the estate of the Antinori family named after it, located about 6 km southwest of Montalcino. It is produced exclusively from Sangiovese and represents the freshest and most immediate interpretation of the Pian delle Vigne territory, complementing the more structured Brunello di Montalcino from the estate. Pian delle Vigne Estate The estate takes its name from the characteristic 19th‑century railway station within the property and became part of the Antinori holdings in 1995, the year of the first harvest of Brunello Pian delle Vigne. The property covers 184 hectares, of which 83 are vineyards, mainly Sangiovese. The vineyards are at about 130 meters above sea level, with primarily southwest exposures and clayey-limestone soils, rich in skeleton. 100% Sangiovese Pian delle Vigne Rosso di Montalcino is produced from: 100% Sangiovese Antinori’s objective is to enhance the more fragrant, fresh and mineral side of Montalcino’s Sangiovese, while maintaining structure and elegance. The vintage 2024 2024 was characterized by a mild and rainy winter and a spring with frequent rainfall and temperatures slightly below the average. July and August were warm and dry, while the excellent temperature swings of September favored balanced ripening of the grapes. The harvest began on 18 September 2024. Vinification and maturation After harvest, the grapes are destemmed and gently crushed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at 28 °C and lasts about 8–10 days. After fermentation, the wine undergoes approximately 10 months of aging. The 2024 vintage was bottled on 14 July 2025. Organoleptic characteristics Pian delle Vigne 2024 presents a brilliant ruby red color. On the nose it is fresh and delicate, with characteristic blood orange notes, accompanied by elegant floral sensations reminiscent of jasmine. On the palate it is juicy, harmonious and graceful, with savory yet velvety tannins. The finish is long, with notes of red fruit and citrus, in particular grapefruit, and a pleasant mineral footprint. It is a Rosso di Montalcino that prioritizes drinkability and elegance, yet retains the personality of Sangiovese from one of Tuscany’s most prestigious territories.
