Domaine Saint-Jacques – Rully 1st Cru “La Fosse” 2021 Burgundy – Rully Premier Cru AOC Lot of 3 bottles of 0.75 L The Rully 1st Cru “La Fosse” 2021 from Domaine Saint-Jacques is a Pinot Noir from Burgundy, coming from the Côte Chalonnaise, a zone capable of offering reds of great finesse, freshness and elegance. Domaine Saint-Jacques is a family estate of about 10 hectares located in the village of Rully. The estate was purchased in 1955 by Christophe-Amédée Grandmougin and is run by his son Christophe since 1991. The property was formerly a resting place along the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, from which the name Saint-Jacques derives. The Premier Cru “La Fosse” La Fosse is one of the Premier Cru classified vineyards of Rully. The Domaine Saint-Jacques parcel extends to about 1 hectare, with south/southeast exposure and a density of about 10,000 vines per hectare. The vines have an average age of about 40 years and are cultivated according to principles of reasoned viticulture. Cavesa The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, the flagship grape of Burgundy’s great red wines. For the 2021 vintage, La Revue du Vin de France notes a production of only about 1,500 bottles, a particularly interesting figure for a lot aimed at collectors and enthusiasts. Vintage 2021 The 2021 is a vintage characterized by a Burgundy-style that is particularly fresh and elegant. The Rully 1st Cru La Fosse 2021 presents a refined profile, with aromas of cherry and cherry liqueur, which, with aeration, give way to nuances of violet and spices. On the palate it shows good density and structure, yet retains finesse, freshness and a pleasant sapid component. It is a Pinot Noir that can be enjoyed relatively young for the fruit purity, but it also has enough structure for an interesting evolution in bottle.
