‘Ornellaia’ is a prestigious oenological masterpiece, a symbol par excellence of Made in Italy wine. It comes from Bolgheri, a marvellous corner of Tuscany that has bewitched artists and personalities of all times and that has become famous for being a land where the Bordeaux blend gives products of extraordinary finesse and personality. The Bolgheri Rosso Superiore ‘Ornellaia’ is a Bordeaux blend, divided into Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The grapes are harvested by hand and are preceded by numerous analyses and actual tastings of the berries in order to best assess the degree of ripeness and balance of the components. This allows an initial selection to be made in the vineyard, followed by a double selection in the cellar. The grapes are vinified separately according to the cru of origin, in order to make the most expressive cut of ‘Ornellaia’.
