2002 Ch Berres Erdener Treppchen - Mosel Auslese - 4 Bottles (0.75L)

C.H. Berres was born in the municipality of Ürzig, in the German Moselle Valley region, watered by the waters of the Moselle River. The winery has a centuries-old history, since the first members of the Berres family were already working these lands destined for winemaking in 1510. From generation to generation, the tradition and passion for this work have been handed down, arriving at the current twenty-first generation with Marku Berres, who manages the winery successfully: after completing studies in enology and viticulture, he joined the company taking control of the 3.5 hectares of vineyards, managing everything so that it could become forward-looking. The Riesling Mosel of C.H. Berres grows on red-colored soils, due to the high presence of iron, combined with clay that give the final product elegance and delicacy in its structure. They are also located on steep, rugged slopes, a condition that entails entirely manual work in the vineyard, from pruning to grape harvest. Winters in this area are cold, often subject to sudden frosts, while the hot, sunny summers, thanks also to the reflection of light on the waters of the Moselle, add brightness. After harvest, the grapes are brought to the winery where alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel with the action of indigenous yeasts; it ages for several months in steel. The color of the Riesling Mosel auslese of C.H. Berres is straw yellow with golden and bright reflections; on the nose it releases aromas of passion fruit, tropical fruit, toasted almonds and, at the finish, flint stones. On the palate it presents as elegant, enveloping, and with long persistence for an interesting drink from the first to the last glass. Recommended pairing with steamed fish dishes, crustaceans and mollusks; also interesting with dishes of seasonal vegetables. A product born from work guided by a love for transparent and artisanal winemaking, so that the glass can savor an authentic and genuine product. The Riesling Mosel auslese of C.H. Berres is produced in late harvest, with grapes from a truly evocative single vineyard. The moderate residual sugar provides softness and pleasure, in balance with pronounced freshness. Notes of exotic fruits such as lychee and passion fruit invite the sip, with great persistence. On the palate, despite the low alcohol content, it shows surprising power and intensity. Best paired with richly flavored fish dishes or with aged cheeses. The Riesling Mosel auslese of C.H.
