Developed as a no-compromise expression of Mercedes-Benz engineering philosophy, the magnificent 500E stands as one of the great performance sedans of the 1990s, styled under the direction of the brilliant Bruno Sacco. The bodies were partially assembled by Mercedes-Benz before being transported to Porsche’s Rössle-Bau facility in Zuffenhausen, a low-volume production site formerly used for building the 959, where the drivetrain and suspension components were installed.
