Kloster Eberbach represents more than 850 years of winemaking tradition. The historic monastery's monks recognized early on that the climatic conditions of the Rheingau region were ideal for producing exceptional wines from locally grown grapes Pinot Noir has been cultivated in Assmannshausen since at least 1507. The vineyard, with slopes reaching gradients of up to 65%, is characterized by remarkably uniform, violet-hued phyllite slate soils.
