1961 Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis Las Cases. 2de grand cru classe. Level: high shoulder. Capsule: excellent. Label: good. The label style, neck collar from the historical merchant Cruse, and glass shape perfectly align with standard Left Bank bottlings from the 1960s. Label Artwork: Features the estate’s famous stone gateway topped with a lion statue, which guards the entrance to the historic Clos vineyard bordering Pauillac. The year 1961 is widely considered one of the greatest vintages in the history of Bordeaux. Because of ideal, low-yielding growing conditions that year, the fruit produced incredibly concentrated, structurally powerful wines. Even after decades of aging, well-preserved bottles of the 1961 Las Cases are highly sought after by collectors and wine enthusiasts.
