Early 1910s souvenir scarf in silk or high-quality synthetic fabric, commemorating the North German Lloyd (Norddeutscher Lloyd) ocean liners SS Bremen and SS Europa. The central field features two stylized ocean liners depicted in an Art Deco graphic style. One vessel is printed with the name BREMEN in orange sans-serif characters, and the other is printed with the name EUROPA. Both ships feature a small bow logo consisting of a crossed anchor and key, representing the North German Lloyd house flag and the coat of arms for the city of Bremen. The four corners are decorated with nautical motifs including a sixteen-point compass rose with a stylized NL monogram, a ship's steering wheel, and two instances of the company's anchor and key emblem. The design is framed by a double blue line border on a white ground with hand-rolled or machine-finished edges.
