1895 Morgan Silver Dollar. JD-2. Rarity-4. Proof-66 Cameo (PCGS).

Beautiful Gem Cameo Proof 1895 Dollar Rarity 1895 Morgan Silver Dollar. JD-2. Rarity-4. Proof-66 Cameo (PCGS). Our multiple offerings in this sale notwithstanding, the Philadelphia Mint 1895 is a legendary rarity in the silver dollar series with an extant population that is in no way sizeable enough to meet strong collector demand. This, in fact, is the undisputed key date issue to completion of a date and mintmark set of the 1878 to 1921 Morgan design type. The present lot showcases a delightful upper end Gem that also offers undeniable strike and condition rarity at the PCGS Proof-66 Cameo level. Dusted with smoky champagne-gold iridescence, the surfaces allow ready appreciation of awesome cameo contrast between deeply mirrored fields and thickly frosted motifs. The strike is razor sharp to full throughout, both sides also expertly preserved with nary a distracting blemish in evidence. A lovely example destined for inclusion in a world-class numismatic cabinet. PCGS Population: 7; 13 finer in this category (Proof-68 Cameo finest). PCGS# 87330. NGC ID: 27ZR.
