1863 Pattern Liberty Seated Dime. Judd-334, Pollock-406. Rarity-7+.

1863 Pattern Liberty Seated Dime. Judd-334, Pollock-406. Rarity-7+. Aluminum. Reeded Edge. Proof-64 Cameo (PCGS). The obverse and reverse designs are the same that the Mint used to produce regular issue 1863 Liberty Seated dimes. Platinum-white surfaces are a bit lightly struck in some peripheral areas, more so on the reverse, but are suitably bold overall when admired in-hand. Lightly reflective in the fields, the motifs are softly frosted in texture. A mere four or five examples of this Judd number are known, per the uspatterns.com website. They were deliberately struck for inclusion in off-metal Proof sets that included the fantasy 1863 quarter, half dollar and dollar with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. Provenance: From Heritage's sale of the Bob R. Simpson Collection, August 2021 ANA Signature Auction, lot 3069. PCGS Population: 2 in all grades in the CAM category, both Proof-64. There are no grading events listed in the PCGS DCAM category. PCGS# 827284. NGC ID: 29FL. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
