1861 Indian Cent. Snow-PR1. Proof-65 (PCGS).

1861 Indian Cent. Snow-PR1. Proof-65 (PCGS). This is one of the more challenging of the three die marriages known for the Proof 1861 Indian cent to find with premium surfaces; most examples were poorly produced and show numerous strike throughs. Several are seen here, most noticeably in the left obverse field before the chin and on the reverse within the letter E in ONE, but both their size and number are minimal and, what's more, one will need a loupe to discern these as made features. This piece also excels in terms of both strike quality and reflectivity, its surfaces carefully preserved, as well, with no post-production blemishes of note. Generally medium pinkish-tan in color, hints of light olive flash into view as the coin rotates under a light. Rare with such superior overall quality and eye appeal. PCGS# 2256. NGC ID: 229B.
