Still Living - 4 Acts - Scene I - Michael James Aleck Snow

Lot # 328 Made in Ontario Online auction Michael James Aleck Snow OC RCA 1928 - Canadian Still Living - 4 Acts - Scene I dye-transfer colour photographs Provenance: Acquired from Isaacs Gallery, Toronto by the present Private Collection, Ontario Exhibited: The Isaacs Gallery, Toronto, Individual Sculpture and Photographic Prints by Michael Snow, November 13 to December 31, 1982 The Edmonton Art Gallery, Alberta, extended loan The following inscription, in four separate boxes, appears on the title-page: The 36 photographs in this edition were originally SX70 Polaroids. The prints were made by the dye transfer process. Half-tone separation negatives were made using a scanner (a machine which makes an electronic analysis of the original material, allowing for subtle changes within all the negatives). One negative is made for each of three colours: magenta, cyan and yellow. The matrices needed for the final print are made from these separation negatives. The print is assembled by soaking the gelatin matrices in the various dye baths and printing each layer for various lengths of time. The prints were made in collaboration with myself by Nino Mondhe, head of the dye transfer dept., at Creative Colour Laboratories, Hamburg, W. Germany. The edition is limited to 10 hand-painted portfolios each of 9 pages signed and numbered. The 4 images on Page Five were also part of a portfolio of photographs by various photographers produced by Anthony Film Archives of New York in 1982. The paper size in that edition was 15 5/8” x 20” and they were not embossed. The title “Still Living – 4 Acts – Scene 1” and the use of the word “page” are attempts to indicate the merging of textual, painting, sculptural, theatrical and photographic concerns which was the ambition of the work. Estimate: $6,000 ~ $9,000 CAD Next Bid: $5,500 CAD, Lot # 328, Michael James Aleck Snow, Still Living - 4 Acts - Scene I, Estimate:, $6,000 ~ $9,000 CAD, $6,000 ~ $9,000 CAD, Next Bid:, Next Bid:, Next Bid: $5,500 CAD, $5,500 CAD閱讀更多

Artists Online auction Justin Ogilvie 1975 - Canadian Dissolve mixed media on canvas board on verso signed, titled and dated 2005 72 x 48 in 182.9 x 121.9cm Provenance: Diane Farris Gallery, 2005 Private Collection, Vancouver Literature: Dissolve, Diane Farris Gallery, 2005, reproduced on the invitation Exhibited: Diane Farris Gallery, Vancouver, Dissolve, October 27 - November 12, 2005 Artist's Statement for "Dissolve": "My current body of drawings casts a philosophical light upon the notion of self as a self-contained, detached, and finite unit of presence. In challenging this perception, beings encounter and are encountered by other beings, by surrounding spaces, by even their own selves. Within this encounter reciprocity, exchange, and dissolve unfold as bodies negotiate boundaries. Bodies interweave their way into and out of an ambiguous tapestry of presence." ELAINE SAVOIE 1962 - Canadian St. Leo, Patron Saint of Phipp's Point acrylic on panel, on verso signed and titled 22 x 16 in, 55.9 x 40.6 cm Phipps Point is more than a landscape to me. A place I often return to in dreams, it is the focus of where I was conceived, born and grew up. My childhood days were spent playing in the boat and net sheds and on the old concrete landing where the family built ferry; the SS Lorraine was tied up. It was also the place where I began to question my family's belief system, to articulate it and make sense of mystery in my own way. To me, Phipps Point has a dark and moody atmosphere, yet is a place where the light comes through.
