ATTRIBUTED TO SIR ROBERT LORIMER SET OF THIRTEEN ARTS & CRAFTS OAK DINING CHAIRS, CIRCA 1900 each with tapered backs with pierced vase-shaped splats and drop-in seats raised on square tapered legs linked by stretchers (13) 48cm wide, 94cm high Estimate £2,000-3,000 + fees Provenance: Sir Robert Lorimer John Henry Lorimer RSA Astronomical Society of Edinburgh Kellie Castle., Fife (until recently on loan) Note: These thirteen oak chairs were part of the bequest made to the Society by the well-known Scottish painter, John Henry Lorimer (1856-1936). Lorimer was a keen amateur astronomer and served as a Vice President of the Society. Following his death on November 4th 1936, he bequeathed the majority of his estate to the Society including these chairs.
